foundations.

where you begin…

A 6 week apprenticeship to learn the skills of The Orientation Method, a practice of restoring movement internally and externally.

A guaranteed skill set to increase self trust, reduce confusion, change your relationship to uncertainty, and awaken a way of being that if practiced will be with you for the remainder of time.

Learn the practice of orientation.

Orientation restores movement—

Movement does not necessarily mean taking action, it means creating forward motion in either the inner or outer world.

The Orientation Method cannot be learned by reading alone.

Like learning a language, a musical instrument, or the art of navigation, it becomes meaningful through practice.

Foundations is a six-week apprenticeship designed to help you begin developing the enduring capacities of Orientation—not simply so you can navigate today's questions, but so you can continue finding your way through whatever life asks of you for years to come.

Self Trust becomes a way of life.

Self trust does not mean rejecting external feedback or guidance, but rather responding with an inner confidence of what is true for you.

Uncertainty no longer creates anxiety.

We live in a world where we believe that knowing what is to come & what to expect is how we find safety, which puts us in a state of anxiety as there will always be variables that lie beyond our control. Knowing how to approach uncertainty with skill & confidence reduces the need to eliminate it and your nervous system begins to settle.

Life becomes a lab to practice.

Life is the lab. A lab is a place to observe, test, try things on, edit, pivot, regroup, celebrate, strengthen, refine…. and that is exactly what we will do.

Time and Energy return to you.

This is not another course, a pressured checklist to complete, or personal development to muster your way through. It is a single set of skills practiced by living, shaped by thoughtful feedback, and designed to give you back your inner peace, time and energy.

WHY IT EXISTS

Orientation restores movement.

Most of us have been taught how to gather information. You are highly self aware, have a high EQ, can name your patterns, what’s happening in your body, and even understand how to perceive where other’s may be coming from.

Very few of us have been taught how to work with it in a skillful way to increase clarity and action.

Foundations exists to bridge that gap. It is mentorship in the 5 core capacities that allow you to change your relationship to the information you gather. We do this through guided practice, thoughtful conversation, and repeated observation.

The goal isn't simply understanding the Orientation Method. It's beginning to embody it.

INTERNAL MOVEMENT

Internal movement occurs when we are able to process, integrate, understand, reframe, or make meaning from an experience rather than remaining caught inside it.

  • looping over a thought → skillfully processing it forward

  • confusion → understanding

  • reactivity → perspective

  • fixation → flexibility

  • being consumed by a thought or feeling → relating to it differently

  • emotional saturation → integration

What orientation is not …

Orientation does not require immediate action.

Sometimes the most oriented response is to pause, wait, accept, gather more information, or allow something to settle.

The goal is not constant activity.

The goal is that we are no longer stuck.

  • Looping is not processing.

  • Indecision is not discernment.

  • Awareness is not yet movement.

Movement begins when information has been organized well enough to create a pathway forward.

The five capacities help us see what is happening, locate ourselves within it, discern what matters and what is ours, respond with intention, and return to ourselves.

A useful distinction:

what you’ll learn

Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll begin strengthening five enduring capacities that can be carried into every area of life.

Together, these capacities restore movement.

You'll learn to:

  • Distinguish observation from interpretation

  • Work skillfully with information

  • Recognize the lenses through which people speak

  • Notice the early signs of disorientation

  • Return to yourself while remaining grounded in reality

  • Practice through Field Notes & everyday living

  • Ask questions that create movement.

The shift

Over time the question shifts from 'What should I do?' to 'What am I noticing?' and then 'What is the next faithful step?'

Movement doesn't come from having every answer.

It comes from learning how to orient yourself to what is true, what matters, and what comes next.

These capacities become part of the way you navigate every relationship, every decision, every season, for the rest of your life.

who it’s for:

People who recognize that more information is not necessarily creating more clarity and who are ready to practice observation, discernment, and orientation with curiosity and intention. People who have read the books, listened to the podcast’s, been in therapy, are highly self aware and are ready for the next step.

who it’s not for:

If you're looking for someone to tell you exactly what to do or for a quick formula that removes uncertainty, this apprenticeship may not be the right fit.

It asks something different: to practice, observe, remain with questions, and become increasingly capable of finding your own way.

EXTERNAL MOVEMENT

External movement occurs when we are able to translate understanding into a choice, action, boundary, communication, or next step.

  • indecision → choice

  • stuckness → a next step

  • helplessness → agency

  • waiting for someone else to change → identifying what is mine to do

  • overwhelm → prioritization

  • avoidance → approach

Apply

Every cohort begins with a brief conversation—not as an interview, but as an opportunity to ensure Foundations is the right fit for both of us. Protecting the learning environment is part of stewarding the work well.

You do not need to arrive with certainty.

Only with a willingness to practice.

Orientation always begins the same way: by noticing where you are.

If you're ready to begin, I'd be honored to practice alongside you.
