The Lab-

A place to continue the practice

Foundations teaches you the language of Orientation.

The Orientation Lab is where that language becomes a way of living.

Because orientation is not something you learn once. It is something you practice over time.

Like learning a musical instrument, another language, or tending a garden, the capacities deepen through repeated attention.

The Lab exists to support that practice.

Why the lab exists

Life never stops changing.

Every season asks something different of us.

The goal of the Orientation Method has never been to prepare you for one decision. It has always been to strengthen the capacities that help you navigate every decision that follows.

That is why the Lab exists.

Not because you need more answers.

Because practice is how formation continues.

how the lab works

The Orientation Lab is an ongoing practice studio.

We meet each week for a live 90-minute Studio Session.

Every gathering begins with a Field Note.

Together we practice the Orientation Method using that real experience.

We observe carefully, distinguish observation from interpretation, notice patterns, and ask what is known, assumed, missing, and what lens each perspective brings.

As one person's Field Note is explored, everyone else practices alongside them.

Every Field Note becomes a shared classroom.

In the Orientation Method, we slow down.

We learn to observe before we interpret.

Ordinary life is where orientation is practiced, and Field Notes become the material we learn from.

Field notes: observations gathered from ordinary life

  • Conversations that stayed with you

  • Moments of uncertainty

  • Difficult decisions

  • Recurring patterns

  • Confusing relationships

  • Reactions you don't fully understand

  • Questions that keep returning.

The Guided Practice

The Orientation Lab is guided practice.

I introduce the Orientation Method, facilitate the conversation, and help the group notice what might otherwise be missed.

The deepest learning doesn't come from my answers. It comes from learning how to observe together.

Watching another person practice strengthens your own capacity to do the same.

My role gradually shifts from providing structure to supporting the development of your own capacities.

That shift is intentional because the goal has never been dependence. It has always been formation.

The Rhythm of the Practice

Between sessions, members continue collecting Field Notes from everyday life.

Life itself becomes the classroom.

The next difficult conversation, disappointment, decision, or misunderstanding becomes an opportunity to practice.

Over time, orientation becomes less something you remember to do and more the way you naturally move through the world.

. . .

Every session

ends

with questions.

We don't end with conclusions.

We end with questions.

Questions interrupt assumptions, create space for observation, and invite curiosity where certainty once lived.

Rather than leaving with someone else’s answer, you leave with questions that continue working on you long after the session has ended.

what it is __

  • A studio.

  • A practice.

  • A place to return.

  • A community of observation.

  • A rhythm of formation.

  • A place where ordinary life becomes the curriculum.

  • A place where people become part of the curriculum.

  • A place where movement continues.

who is it for?

what it is not__

  • It is not group coaching.

  • It is not therapy.

  • It is not a support group.

  • It is not another place to collect information.

  • It is not designed to solve everyone's problems each week.

  • It is not designed to create dependence.

The Orientation Lab is designed for people who have completed Foundations and want to continue practicing the Orientation Method. Formation happens through practice—week after week, season after season—until the capacities become increasingly natural.

Our hope

The Orientation Lab is not meant to become the center of your life.

Life is.

The Lab exists so that, over time, the practices become so integrated that they accompany you everywhere.

Our hope is not that you remain in the Lab forever, but that the Orientation Method becomes less something you attend and more the way you move through the world.
